Dealing with Bullying and Rascism

Ms Tulip (Welfare and Career Advisor)
Kotara High school has a strict policy AGAINST any form of bullying or rascism. If you are being repeatedly taunted, teased or called names you MUST tell someone. I will be with you for most of the time and so we should be able to stop it but if things get out of hand this is what we will do:
Mrs Hardstein (Principal)
Ms Granger (Deputy Principal)

This is your official support network and will sort out anything if it becomes too serious. Don't be afraid to come to these people as they are happy to help and also please come and talk to me if you're having any problems. This is very serious, but the Kotara High community isn't really like that at all. They will embrace a new person especially one as culturally interesting as you so no fear! You'll have a smooth and pleasant transition, I'm sure of it. Until next time xxxx

Our School Uniform

At Kotara High School we have a fairly relaxed uniform policy, as long as you're wearing the right thing, you won't get in trouble!

For The Girls:

  • (Every girl must have one) Tartan Skirt
  • White School Blouse (School crest)
  • White School Polo (School crest) (Sport)
  • White Socks (Must be visible)

In Winter:

  • Black stockings or tights (To be worn under skirt only)
  • Black jumper/cardigan/plain black sweatshirt
  • School winter jacket (School crest)
  • Black tailored trousers

To Accompany the Sport polo:

  • Black school shorts

Shoes:

  • Black shoes with black laces
                        OR

  • Black shoes with a fully enclosed toe box and a strap and a solid sole
This is or school uniform and it might be a little stricter or perhaps less strict than your school in Spain. I guess we will find out soon! Here is a few tips from me..

My Uniform Tips

  • Don't waer green shorts! They were phased out years ago and will just get you into trouble.
  • Don't buy the school sports shorts! This one is particularly important as those shorts were made for boys and no matter what the school says they don't fit and will always be horrendously uncomfortable for girls!
  • Never, Ever, Ever, Ever wear the school winter jacket! Ever! It seriously will make you look like The Biggest Loser. Enough said.
  • Don't buy a pair of chunky school shoes, its not necessary! Just grab a pair of vans or converse which can multitask as out of school shoes and in school shoes.
Don't stress if you haven't heard of something or don't know where to get something, I will come and do all the shopping with you and take it as an opportunity to introduce you to all Newcastle has to offer....
Until next time xxx

One of the MOST important things about surviving in school is knowing where you're going! So I've put together a map of our school so that you can figure out everything you need to know BEFORE you're desperate for the toilet and have no idea where to go. To avoid all those cringeworthy moments where you're too scared to ask, NO FEAR, Sofia's school map is here! Just hover over the icons for instant information about that place and you'll never need to ask again! You'll be able to walk from the drama room to the MPC with your eyes closed! So enjoy....
